In recognition of her decades-long commitment to social reform, peacebuilding, and community development, Smt. Radha Bahin Bhatt, a revered Gandhian and social worker from Uttarakhand, has been conferred the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honors.
A beacon of selfless service and grassroots activism, Radha Bahin Bhatt has spent over five decades championing the rights of the marginalized and empowering women, youth, and rural communities across the Himalayan belt and beyond.

Over the years, she has been involved in numerous peace missions, rural education initiatives, women’s empowerment programs, and disaster relief efforts—particularly in the wake of the Uttarakhand floods.
“Social work is not an act of charity, but an expression of love and responsibility toward humanity,” she has often said.
