100 Girlfriends Anime Sets Guinness Record for Longest Monologue

Japan | June 27, 2025 — Bibury Animation Studios’ hit anime series The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records for featuring the longest monologue in Japanese animation.

The record-breaking speech comes from the finale of Season 2, Episode 12, which aired on March 30, 2025. In this episode, protagonist Rentaro Aijo delivers an unprecedented 7,453-character love speech—a heartfelt confession detailing his immense feelings for each of his soulmates.

According to the certificate presentation held on June 25, 2025, voice actor Wataru Kato, who portrays Rentaro, was formally awarded the certification.

The anime, an adaptation of Rikito Nakamura’s popular manga, follows Rentaro’s unique destiny: being fated to love 100 girlfriends, or risk fatal consequences for any he rejects. The monologue’s sheer length led to it being fast‑forwarded in the broadcast version, yet it remains the longest single continuous speech recorded in Japanese anime.

To celebrate, a special event is planned for October 18, 2025, at Tokyo’s National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. Attendees will view the uncut version of Rentaro’s speech at normal speed, followed by a cast talk featuring main voice actors including Kato, Amane Shindō (Kurumi Haraga), Rie Takahashi (Iku Suto), and Lynn (Mimimi).

Fans have praised the adaptation, especially the anime’s pacing and comedic timing. Screenrant noted that the speech was delivered in “about 1 minute and 30 seconds,” reflecting how the production cleverly condensed a viral manga scene while preserving its emotional weight.
