The Northwoods of Wisconsin made history in August 2022 when Shotskis Bar in Eagle River set the world record for the longest Shotski®, bringing hundreds together for the record-setting event.
During the community-wide celebration, 468 skis were linked end-to-end to form a massive Shotski measuring 2,454.95 feet long, surpassing the previous record held in Breckenridge, Colorado. The event attracted roughly 1,187 participants, who raised funds for local programs while hoisting mini bottles and taking a synchronized toast along the length of the Shotski®.
Organizers prepared the record-breaking Shotski® by collecting donated skis, removing bindings, and attaching them together with Velcro spaced every 18 inches. The world record attempt was verified on site by a land surveyor, an accountant, and legal representatives, and the official certificate was presented to Shotskis Bar owners as local spectators cheered.
The record-setting event not only brought national attention to Eagle River’s lively bar scene and unique winter culture but also raised nearly $23,000 for community organizations through registrations and fundraising efforts.
