The city of Nagpur achieved a historic spiritual and cultural milestone as a staggering number of students gathered to participate in a mass chanting of the Bhagavad Gita verses, officially setting a world record. The event, held at the Khasdar Sanskruti Mahotsav, showcased a massive display of unity, discipline, and devotion.
The record-breaking recital took place at the Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education Ground, as part of the Mahotsav’s spiritual initiative, “Jagar Bhakticha” (Awakening of Devotion).
Participation: A confirmed total of 52,559 students from over 300 schools across the city participated. The students, ranging from classes 5 to 12, chanted the 12th, 15th, and 16th chapters of the Bhagavad Gita in synchronized harmony.
World Recognition: The monumental effort was recognized and recorded by the World Record Book of India, the India Book of Records, and the Asia Book of Records for the largest simultaneous participation in a collective scripture recitation.
Spiritual Significance: The collective sound of thousands of young voices reciting the ancient text created a profound and divine atmosphere, resonating with the philosophical message of the Gita.
The event was attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the visionary behind the annual Khasdar Sanskruti Mahotsav, who hailed the achievement as a moment of great pride for Nagpur.
The program was also graced by prominent spiritual leader Swami Govinddev Giri Maharaj, Treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas and Founder of Geeta Pariwar, among other dignitaries. The teachers who trained the students in the meaning, pronunciation, and philosophy of the Gita were felicitated for their significant contribution to the record’s success.
The mass recitation is a part of the Mahotsav’s ongoing efforts to instill cultural values and promote personality development among the youth of the region.
