On the occasion of Constitution Day, 26th November 2019, the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority organized the first-ever Coal Lok Adalat at the Judicial Academy premises in Ranchi. This landmark event successfully settled 9,650 cases in a single day, disbursing a total amount of Rs. 374,01,41,887 to 9,711 beneficiaries.
The Lok Adalat primarily addressed land compensation disputes along with matters concerning serving and retired employees of Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL) and Bharat Coking Coal Ltd. (BCCL).
The program was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand; Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan, Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court; Hon’ble Mr. Justice H.C. Mishra, Executive Chairman of JHALSA; and other esteemed judges of the High Court of Jharkhand, marking a significant milestone in speedy dispute resolution for the coal sector in the state.
