India’s Largest Private Rocket Factory

In a landmark moment for India’s rapidly expanding private space industry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad on November 27, 2025. Spanning more than 200,000 square feet, the facility is now the largest private rocket manufacturing unit in India, signaling a major leap in the country’s commercial space capabilities.

The inauguration also marked the official unveiling of Vikram-1, Skyroot Aerospace’s first multi-stage orbital launch vehicle. Designed to carry payloads of up to 350 kilograms to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Vikram-1 is scheduled for its maiden flight in early 2026, positioning India among a select group of nations with private orbital launch systems.

Located near Shamshabad, Hyderabad, the Infinity Campus is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art facility capable of handling the entire rocket lifecycle. From conceptual design and systems engineering to carbon-composite stage manufacturing, integration, and high-pressure testing, the campus has been built for speed, scale, and precision.

At full operational capacity, the factory can produce one orbital-class rocket per month, a critical capability as global demand surges for small and dedicated satellite launches.

PM Modi Praises India’s Private Space Revolution
During the virtual inauguration, Prime Minister Modi hailed the campus as a symbol of India’s evolving innovation ecosystem. He highlighted the role of young engineers and entrepreneurs, stating that the facility reflects “India’s new thinking and innovation.”

“The opening of the space sector has transformed India into an open and cooperative ecosystem, attracting global investors and creating a unique identity for the nation in the global space arena,” the Prime Minister said. He described the Infinity Campus as more than a factory, calling it a testament to the risk-taking spirit and entrepreneurial drive of India’s youth.

Key Highlights of the Infinity Campus

Size: 200,000 sq. ft. (Phase 1)
Capacity: One orbital rocket per month
Location: Shamshabad, Hyderabad
Capabilities: Design, integration, testing, and carbon-composite manufacturing
Flagship Project: Vikram-1 orbital launch vehicle
Looking Ahead: Vikram-1 and Beyond

Founded by former ISRO scientists Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, Skyroot Aerospace made history in 2022 with the successful launch of Vikram-S, India’s first privately developed sub-orbital rocket. With the Infinity Campus now operational, Skyroot plans to invest around ₹1,000 crore to further scale its manufacturing and launch capabilities. The upcoming Vikram-1 mission is expected to significantly strengthen India’s position in the global space market and advance the “Make in India” initiative in deep-tech and aerospace manufacturing.

The inauguration of the Infinity Campus marks a decisive step forward, underscoring how India’s private space companies are rapidly emerging as global contenders in the new space economy.
