Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who captured the hearts of a nation with her ambitious culinary marathon, has now officially been recognized by Guinness World Records (GWR) for the longest non-stop cooking session by an individual.
Hilda Baci became a national sensation last month after her incredible four-day cooking endeavor. While she cooked for a total of 100 hours, GWR has officially logged her record at 93 hours and 11 minutes. The seven-hour reduction from her intended 100 hours was due to a longer break taken on one occasion, exceeding the allowed five-minute break per hour (or equivalent accumulated breaks).
Despite the adjustment, Baci’s achievement comfortably surpassed the previous record by more than five hours. The former record was held by Indian chef Lata Tondon, who set a mark in Rewa, central India, in 2019.
Chef Baci, 27, embarked on her epic cook-a-thon, preparing over 100 different dishes, when she turned on her cooker at 15:00 GMT on Thursday, May 11th. She continued her culinary marathon until the following Monday, drawing immense support and attention throughout the event. Her official recognition by Guinness World Records solidifies her place in history and celebrates her incredible endurance and culinary skill.
