Bangladesh to Attempt World’s Largest Flag Parachuting Display on Victory Day

Bangladesh is preparing for a breathtaking spectacle as the nation aims to set a Guinness World Record for the largest flag-parachuting display during its upcoming Victory Day celebrations. The ambitious attempt, planned for 16 December, promises to combine patriotism, precision and high-altitude skill in a way the country has never witnessed before.

Organised by the Bangladesh Parachuting Association alongside the Armed Forces, the event will see hundreds of trained paratroopers, skydivers, and aerial athletes leap from military aircraft carrying enormous national flags—some spanning several stories in height—creating a choreographed cascade of red and green across the sky.

The display is set to take place over Dhaka and several key regional centres, allowing thousands of spectators to witness the airborne tribute as Bangladesh marks the historic day of its liberation.

Officials say the initiative was inspired by the desire to showcase national pride while demonstrating the capabilities of the country’s growing aviation and skydiving community. Preparations have already begun, with pilots, jumpmasters and elite paratroopers conducting multiple rehearsals to ensure that weather, wind direction, altitude levels and release timings all align flawlessly.

Guinness World Records will verify the attempt based on three major criteria:
• Total number of parachutists participating in a coordinated formation
• Size and visibility of the flags during descent
• Accuracy and timing of the synchronized landing

Organisers are confident the country will make history.
“This is more than a record attempt — it is a tribute to the heroes of 1971,” said an official involved in the planning. “Every parachute, every flag, every landing will honour the spirit of Victory Day.”

Large crowds are expected, with families, students, veterans, and tourists preparing to gather at viewing zones to witness the sky turn into a living canvas of patriotism.

Social media excitement is already building, with rehearsal clips going viral and citizens expressing pride at Bangladesh’s bold initiative. Schools and local organisations are planning special programmes to educate youngsters about the significance of the moment.

If successful, the event will not only secure Bangladesh a place in the Guinness World Records but will also create an unforgettable visual tribute to the sacrifices and courage that shaped the nation 53 years ago.
