19-Year-Old Mahmood Akram Sets World Records by Mastering 400 Languages

At just 19 years old, Mahmood Akram from Chennai has stunned the world with an unprecedented linguistic feat. Akram can read, write, and type in 400 languages, and fluently speak 46—an achievement that has earned him accolades, awards, and multiple world records.

His journey is a testament to passion, determination, and the celebration of linguistic diversity. Akram’s love for languages blossomed under the guidance of his father, Shilbee Mozhippriyan, who himself speaks 16 languages and holds a doctorate in cognitive psychology.

Shilbee, who often faced challenges while working in countries like Israel and Spain due to language barriers, inspired Mahmood to embrace languages from around the globe. “I had struggled because I did not know the language of a particular state or country when I had to move,” shares Shilbee.

Mahmood’s incredible achievements go beyond personal success—they highlight the power of language to connect people, cultures, and ideas in an increasingly interconnected world.
