Nick DiGiovanni and Lynja Create World’s Largest Sushi Roll

In a mouth-watering display of culinary creativity and sheer scale, chef and food creator Nick DiGiovanni and his longtime partner Lynn “Lynja” Davis have secured a Guinness World Record by crafting the world’s largest sushi roll by width — a colossal 2.16 metre (7 ft 1 in) roll that dwarfs conventional sushi creations. The giant maki was roughly the equivalent of 45,000 regular sushi rolls laid side-by-side.

To bring this record-breaking roll to life, the duo marshalled staggering quantities of ingredients, including 2,000 pounds of sushi rice, 500 pounds of sushi-grade salmon, 500 pounds of crisp cucumbers, and thousands of sheets of nori — plus more sesame seeds than they ever want to see again. A custom 7-foot-wide sushi mould was engineered for the challenge, so large that the chefs had to climb inside it while assembling the roll. The creation met strict Guinness World Records standards, including the use of cold, vinegar-dressed rice, wrapping in nori, and incorporating at least two fillings — all scaled up from a traditional maki roll.

On the same day as the massive sushi roll, DiGiovanni also broke the record for the fastest time to fillet a 10-pound fish, completing the task in 1 minute and 0.29 seconds — besting the previous mark of 1 minute and 5 seconds. This latest achievement adds to a growing list of Guinness World Records claimed by the duo, who are beloved on social media for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the kitchen — from giant cake pops and chicken nuggets to now the world’s largest sushi roll.

Whether served at community events, donated, or shared online with millions of followers, this gargantuan roll showcases both their playful approach to food and the global appeal of record-breaking cuisine.
