The Integrated Tribal Development Project, Shahapur, District Thane, Maharashtra, organized an extraordinary world record event to celebrate Surya Namaskar Day 2020. Under the leadership of Project Officer Arunkumar Jadhav, more than 8,000 students from 23 Government Tribal Ashram Schools participated in a synchronized Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) performance.
The students performed the Surya Namaskar continuously for one full hour, starting promptly at 8:00 AM and concluding at 9:00 AM, simultaneously across 23 different venues throughout the region. This massive coordinated effort took place in Bhinar, Taluka Bhiwandi, District Thane, Maharashtra, showcasing unity, discipline, and the power of yoga in tribal communities.
The event set a new world record for the maximum number of participants performing Surya Namaskar non-stop as a group at multiple locations, promoting health, wellness, and cultural heritage among tribal youth.
The record was officially recognized and adjudicated on-site, highlighting the Integrated Tribal Development Project’s commitment to empowering tribal students through traditional practices and community involvement.
