World’s Largest Popcorn Ball

The world’s largest popcorn ball stands as a quirky and impressive world record a massive sphere made almost entirely of popcorn that has become a celebrated roadside attraction. While Guinness World Records lists a 3,423‑lb popcorn ball made in Lake Forest, Illinois as an official record‑setter, Sac City, Iowa’s gigantic popcorn ball has also been widely recognised by many record‑tracking sources for its extraordinary size and local pride.

The Guinness World Record entry for the largest popcorn ball was achieved on 29 September 2006, when a popcorn ball weighing 3,423 lb (1,552.64 kg) was created by employees of The Popcorn Factory.

Meanwhile in Sac City, volunteers and community members have built their own colossal popcorn creations over the years. One of these massive popcorn balls has been reported to weigh around 9,370 lb (≈4,250 kg) with a circumference just over 24 feet a feat celebrated locally and attracting visitors from across the U.S. to see the world’s largest popcorn ball display.

The Sac City popcorn ball crafted with hundreds of pounds of popped corn, syrup and sugar is housed at the Sac City Museum Complex, where it draws curious travellers and popcorn enthusiasts alike.
