Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s ‘Missing Link’ Project Aims for Guinness World Record

The ambitious ‘Missing Link’ project on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway is set to achieve global recognition, with authorities aiming to secure a place in the Guinness World Records.

The project, being developed in the state of Maharashtra, is designed to significantly reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune. Once completed, it is expected to cut down the journey by nearly 30 minutes, improving connectivity and easing congestion on one of India’s busiest highways.

A key highlight of the project is the construction of some of the country’s longest tunnels and tallest cable-stayed bridges, engineered through the challenging terrain of the Western Ghats. These features are central to its bid for a Guinness World Record, as officials believe the scale and complexity of the construction are among the most advanced in infrastructure development.

The Missing Link stretch will bypass the existing ghat section, which is prone to traffic bottlenecks and accidents, offering a safer and more efficient route for commuters and transport vehicles alike. Advanced technologies and engineering solutions are being deployed to ensure durability and sustainability in the long term.
