Kapla Tower Reaches New Heights at 27.46 Metres

A group of dedicated builders led by Swiss artist Benjamin Crouzier, widely known as KaplaBen, has officially set a Guinness World Record for constructing the tallest tower made from wooden toy blocks inspiring imagination and engineering skill on a dramatic scale. The towering structure reached an astonishing 27.46 metres (approximately 90 ft) in height at the Olympia London exhibition centre on 27 June 2023.

The record attempt verified by Guinness officials saw KaplaBen collaborate with a team of builders and creative contributors from around the world, all methodically stacking thousands of KAPLA wooden planks to achieve this extraordinary height.

Unlike many child’s‑play block activities, KAPLA planks are simple identical wooden planks that rely on balance and weight alone without glue or supports highlighting not only creative vision but also precision and physics mastery in achieving a freestanding structure of this scale.

The event at Olympia London brought together spectators of all ages who watched the record build unfold over several days, showcasing both art‑in‑motion and architectural patience. In addition to pushing the limits of wooden toy construction, the project offered an educational glimpse into large‑scale collaborative design and the playful side of engineering.

This new mark eclipsed the previous Guinness World Record of 18.76 metres and stands as a testament to what creative teamwork and hundreds of tiny blocks can accomplish when imagination meets ambition. For fans of design, toy building and world records alike, the Kapla tower continues to inspire reminding audiences that even traditional play materials can reach record‑breaking heights.
