World’s Largest Handmade Ladies Kurti Set Created in Ahmedabad, Gujarat

In a remarkable tribute to India’s rich textile heritage and to support tribal women artisans, Shri Ketan Patel, Founder of TADKO THE ESSENTIAL, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, has successfully created the World’s Largest Handmade Mirror-Work Ladies Kurti Set. This extraordinary creation has been officially recognized and confirmed by World Records India on 23rd February 2026 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
The magnificent handmade Kurti set showcases the beauty of traditional Indian handicraft and mirror-work artistry on an unprecedented scale. The Kurti measures an impressive 18 feet in total length, featuring a 5-foot torso, 6.25-foot sleeves, and an enormous 24-meter flare (gher) crafted with 32 kalis (panels). The set also includes a 13-foot-long culotte pant, making it one of the most distinctive handmade fashion creations ever produced.
The project required an extensive amount of materials and meticulous craftsmanship. A total of 148 meters of fabric was used for the Kurti and 27 meters for the culotte pant. The creation also utilized 8,000 meters of stitching thread, 5,379 meters of Anchor thread, and incorporated 489 handcrafted mirror glasses as part of the intricate mirror-work design.
Designed in an extraordinary 25XL size, the garment was created under the expert guidance of stitching master Shri Namanbhai. The massive Kurti set was completed by 5–6 skilled tailors over 250 working hours, demonstrating remarkable dedication and precision.
A special highlight of the garment is the intricate handmade mirror crochet work, meticulously crafted by Smt. Kananben and her team, whose artistry reflects the traditional craftsmanship of Gujarat’s tribal communities.
This record-setting creation not only celebrates innovation in fashion but also aims to empower tribal women artisans and promote India’s traditional handicraft and mirror-work embroidery on a global stage.
