Super Marios Take Over Union Square in World Record Attempt on ‘Mar10’ Day

Hundreds of fans dressed as the iconic video game character Mario gathered in Union Square to attempt a world record during celebrations for Mario Day, also known as “Mar10 Day.”

The event brought together enthusiastic gamers and cosplay fans from across the region, all wearing the character’s signature red cap, blue overalls, and mustache. The goal was to assemble the largest gathering of people dressed as Mario in one place.

Mario Day, celebrated annually on March 10, is dedicated to the beloved character from the long-running Super Mario Bros. franchise created by Nintendo. Fans often mark the occasion with themed events, gaming sessions, and cosplay celebrations.

Event organizers said participants lined up in Union Square while officials counted the crowd to verify whether the attempt met the guidelines required by Guinness World Records.

Spectators cheered as waves of red-capped “Marios” filled the square, creating a colorful and playful scene in the heart of the city. Organizers said the gathering was not only about breaking a record but also about celebrating the global cultural impact of the Super Mario franchise.
