World’s Largest Blanket Fort

A group of enthusiastic young scouts and volunteers has constructed the world’s largest blanket fort, officially recognised by Guinness World Records for its sheer size and community spirit. The colossal fort was built on 13 May 2023 by Cub Scout Pack 502, Scouts BSA Troop 502B, and Scouts BSA Troop 502G.

The record‑breaking blanket fort measured an immense 1,141.79 square metres (12,290.12 square feet), surpassing all previous attempts and setting a new global benchmark for the largest structure made primarily using blankets and sheets.

The build took place at Waterfront Park in Mount Pleasant and involved dozens of participants working together to lay out and secure hundreds of donated blankets that formed the fort’s walls and ceilings.

The scouts organised the effort not only as a record‑breaking project but also as a community and service initiative. After the event, all blankets used in the structure were donated to local homeless shelters and animal shelters, reinforcing the event’s spirit of giving back.

The achievement stands as a playful yet impactful example of teamwork, imagination and community engagement proving that childhood fun can also make a meaningful difference.
