Safin Hasan’s Extraordinary Rise as India’s Youngest IPS Officer

Against a backdrop of poverty, struggle, and relentless hardship, Safin Hasan’s journey stands as one of modern India’s most inspiring success stories. Born in the Palanpur taluka of Gujarat’s Banaskantha district, Safin rose from severe financial adversity to become India’s youngest IPS officer at just 22 years of age.

Safin’s early life was marked by uncertainty. After his parents lost their jobs, survival itself became a daily challenge. His father worked as an electrician, while his mother cooked at weddings to ensure her son’s education did not stop. Watching his parents struggle ignited a powerful dream in Safin — to become self-reliant and uplift his family through education and service.

A brilliant student, Safin earned fee waivers for Classes 11 and 12 due to his academic excellence. With the support of relatives, he went on to pursue a B.Tech degree from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat. Every step forward was built on sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering determination.

His toughest test came during his UPSC journey. While traveling to appear for the civil services examination, Safin met with a serious accident and sustained severe injuries. Yet, displaying remarkable courage, he went directly from the hospital to the examination center to write the exam — a moment that would later define his indomitable spirit.

In 2017, his perseverance paid off. Safin secured an All India Rank of 570 in the UPSC examination and was appointed to the Indian Police Service, becoming the youngest IPS officer in the country at the time.

Safin Hasan’s life is living proof that dreams fueled by discipline and determination can overcome poverty, pain, and impossible odds. His journey is not only a source of pride for his family and Gujarat but also a beacon of hope for millions of young Indians who dare to dream beyond their circumstances.
