India Achieves Major Milestones in Manned Moon Mission Preparations

India’s ambitions for a manned lunar mission advanced significantly with two major indigenous breakthroughs achieved through coordinated efforts of DRDO and ISRO. The Defence Research and Development Organisation announced the successful development of specialised astronaut food designed to support long-duration space travel. The menu, which includes preservative-free dishes such as moong dal halwa and aamras, has been engineered to provide high nutrition, stability, and safety in space environments.

Parallel to this achievement, ISRO and DRDO completed rigorous trials of an advanced 10-parachute recovery system crucial for the safe return of astronauts. The system, featuring reefed inflation technology, underwent a series of Integrated Main Parachute Airdrop Tests (IMAT) conducted with the support of the Indian Air Force and Indian Army. These tests validated the module’s ability to descend safely from extreme altitudes, ensuring controlled landing of the crew capsule.

Together, these milestones mark a major stride in India’s human spaceflight roadmap and its long-term vision of manned lunar exploration. The achievements underscore the nation’s growing self-reliance in space technology and reflect the strong collaborative ecosystem between India’s premier scientific institutions. The developments have been widely celebrated as a proud moment for India’s scientific community and space enthusiasts.
