In a landmark move aimed at accelerating India’s digital transformation, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has launched the country’s first fully residential Artificial Intelligence diploma program. The initiative marks a significant step in developing advanced AI talent and preparing industry-ready professionals for the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Ranked 25th in the NIRF Engineering category, IIT Gandhinagar announced the launch in collaboration with Futurense Technologies, introducing three new six-month Postgraduate Diploma programs:
PG Diploma in AI and Agentic AI Engineering
PG Diploma in GenAI and Data Science Engineering
PG Diploma in AI-Powered Software Engineering with Cloud
These intensive residential programs are designed to replicate real-world industry environments and offer over 600 hours of hands-on bootcamp training, equivalent to two years of practical industrial experience. The curriculum blends foundational knowledge with advanced applied skills, enabling students to build AI-driven products and deploy real-world solutions.
Admission to the program will be competitive, based on a national-level entrance test — the All India National Proficiency Test (AINPT) — followed by a multi-stage interview process. Each course will admit only 60 students, ensuring focused mentorship and personalized learning.
Students will be trained by expert IIT faculty as well as top professionals from leading global companies.
The programs feature innovative modules such as:
AI Clinic — solving real-world business and technology challenges
Ideas Lab — encouraging creativity and product development
Product Deconstruction Workshops — learning from analysis of cutting-edge AI products
Graduates will receive 100% placement support and earn Executive Alumni status from IIT Gandhinagar, providing long-term career benefits and global opportunities. The first batch will commence in February 2026.
This initiative positions IIT Gandhinagar at the forefront of advanced technology education and represents a historic milestone in shaping India’s next generation of AI, Data Science, and Cloud Engineering professionals.
