In a grand celebration marking the spirit of Diwali, the festival of lights, the city of Faridabad witnessed the lighting of a 15-foot-tall ‘Asha Deep’ (Lamp of Hope) at Labour Chowk. The spectacular event took place in the presence of Mr. Vipul Goyal, Cabinet Minister, Government of Haryana, and drew massive participation from citizens, youth groups, and local social organizations.
The towering Asha Deep, made entirely from recycled ghee and oil cans, stands as a shining example of eco-conscious creativity, blending cultural tradition with environmental responsibility. The structure is being hailed as a new symbol of hope, unity, and progress for the people of Faridabad.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Vipul Goyal said that Diwali is much more than a festival — it is a reminder of the eternal victory of light over darkness, truth over falsehood, and hope over despair. “The festival holds real significance when we resolve to carry its light to every corner of society,” he said.
The event’s central message, “Light a Lamp, Increase Hope,” echoed through the evening as thousands of diyas illuminated the area. The celebration was enriched with soulful bhajans, cultural performances, and the enthusiastic participation of residents who transformed the occasion into a vibrant public festival.
Citizens lauded the initiative, calling it not only a Diwali celebration but also a reflection of ‘Amritkaal Bharat’ — a New India filled with optimism and purpose.
Mr. Goyal emphasized that the Asha Deep is a tribute to the tireless efforts of the workers, professionals, and citizens who are building a modern, dynamic Faridabad. “While the world decorates homes during Diwali, we are illuminating our city together. This is the identity of Faridabad,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s ‘Viksit Haryana’, the Minister announced plans to transform Faridabad into a model city by next Diwali — excelling in infrastructure, education, cleanliness, environment, and smart services.
“As we light this Asha Deep, we renew our collective resolve — no darkness can stop us when we stand united in purpose. This is the message of Diwali, and this is the spirit of a rising India,” he concluded.
