Bini Muduli Makes History as First Bonda Girl to Crack Odisha Civil Service Exam

A wave of celebration has swept through the remote Bonda community in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), following the historic achievement of Bini Muduli. She has become the first-ever person from her tribe to successfully crack the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Examination.

The incredible success story of Bini, who secured the 596th rank in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, is a powerful testament to grit and self-belief.

Bini Muduli, who hails from Khemaguda village, prepared for the prestigious examination while overcoming significant financial hardships. Her father, Ram Muduli, works as a cook at a government high school, and her mother, Sunamali Kirsani, is an Anganwadi worker.

An emotional Bini credited her family for her achievement, stating, “My parents are my greatest inspiration and the foundation of my achievements. They helped me a lot.” Her father, overwhelmed with pride, expressed hope that Bini will become an “inspiration for many girl students.”

Unable to afford the high fees of formal coaching institutes, Bini harnessed the power of the internet for her preparation. She relied heavily on self-study and YouTube videos to gain knowledge and understand exam strategies. This resourcefulness highlights her unwavering determination to pursue her dream of becoming a civil servant.

Bini’s primary goal as a civil service officer will be to focus on the overall upliftment and development of her community, especially by promoting education for girls and ensuring the proper implementation of pro-tribal schemes.

Her achievement is hailed as a beacon of hope and a landmark moment, proving that education can be the greatest equalizer and can successfully transcend socio-economic barriers.
