Navi Mumbai to Host Maharashtra’s First Formula Night Street Race in December

Navi Mumbai is set to make history by hosting Maharashtra’s first-ever Formula Night Street Race this December, an event slated to be the grand finale of the 2025 Indian Racing Festival (IRF).

The announcement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. (RPPL) and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), witnessed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The event introduces Mumbai’s first FIA-grade street racing circuit, a milestone that places the city on the global motorsport calendar alongside iconic street race destinations.

  • Circuit Length: A demanding 3.753 km anti-clockwise circuit.
  • Layout: Featuring 14 challenging turns, the track will primarily run along the iconic Palm Beach Road and weave through scenic stretches encircling Nerul Lake.
  • Format: The entire spectacle will be a floodlit night race, promising an electrifying atmosphere against the backdrop of the Navi Mumbai skyline.

The high-octane weekend will feature a double-header of racing action:

  1. Indian Racing League (IRL): A franchise-based, gender-neutral competition featuring powerful Wolf GB08 Thunder single-seater cars.
  2. FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC): The premier single-seater category for aspiring young drivers, offering crucial FIA Super Licence points.

The IRL teams include star-studded celebrity owners such as John Abraham (Goa Aces), Arjun Kapoor (Speed Demons Delhi), and Sourav Ganguly (Kolkata Royal Tigers), ensuring a blend of motorsport adrenaline and glamour.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hailed the event as a significant development for the state. “The Mumbai Street Race marks a historic milestone in Maharashtra’s motorsport journey, showcasing our capability to host world-class events that drive tourism and generate jobs,” he said.

While the exact dates in December are yet to be confirmed, the civic body has indicated that temporary road closures on the Palm Beach Road stretch are anticipated to begin around December 10 for circuit setup.

Navi Mumbai follows Hyderabad, Chennai, and the recently announced Goa Street Circuit in hosting a leg of the IRF, furthering the goal of building a robust motorsport ecosystem in India.
