An orchard in Virginia has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the heaviest peach. The massive fruit, grown at Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet, was verified on September 10, 2025, and weighs an astonishing 828.5 grams (1 pound, 13 ounces).
The record-breaking peach was a PF-27A variety, a well-known type prized for its size. According to Henry Chiles, who manages the family farm, the exceptional size was the result of a combination of perfect weather conditions. A spring frost earlier in the year naturally thinned out the number of flowers on the tree, allowing the remaining peaches to receive more of the tree’s energy. This, combined with ample summer rains, led to the fruit’s extraordinary growth.
This monumental peach shatters the previous record and adds a sweet new chapter to the legacy of the Chiles family, who have been farming for generations. The fruit now stands as a testament to both nature’s power and the family’s long-standing dedication to their craft.
