In a stunning leap toward the future of personal transportation, Japanese startup AERWINS Technologies has unveiled the world’s first flying airbike, priced at $92,000. The sci-fi-inspired vehicle, named XTURISMO, promises to redefine how we think about commuting and adventure.
Powered by a hybrid engine and four electric rotors, the XTURISMO resembles a futuristic hoverbike from a movie — and it actually flies. The airbike can hover and glide at speeds of up to 100 km/h (62 mph) for nearly 40 minutes on a single charge. It’s designed for single riders and features a sleek, lightweight carbon-fiber frame.
“We wanted to bring the dream of flying motorcycles to life,” said CEO Shuhei Komatsu. “With XTURISMO, that dream is now a reality.”
The flying airbike has already completed successful test flights and is currently available for pre-order in limited quantities. While it’s initially being marketed for recreational use, rescue operations and traffic management are among the long-term applications being considered.
Though currently approved for use in open and designated areas in Japan and the UAE, AERWINS is working with international regulators to expand legal operation to other countries, including the U.S. and parts of Europe.
From the road to the sky, the future of transportation has officially taken off — and it comes with a $92,000 price tag.
