In a landmark moment for Indian football, Meghalaya is set to become home to the country’s first-ever FIFA-standard football stadium, marking a massive leap forward for sports infrastructure in the Northeast and India as a whole.
The state government, in partnership with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and with support from FIFA’s global development fund, announced the ambitious project in Shillong, the football-loving capital of Meghalaya. The upcoming stadium will meet all FIFA international specifications, including turf, lighting, seating, and safety standards.
