In a first-of-its-kind initiative, India’s first personal sports museum, the Fanattic Sports Museum (FSM), opened its doors in New Town, Kolkata on January 29, 2017, turning a lifetime of sports passion into a national celebration of athletic excellence.
Founded by renowned sports historian Prof. Boria Majumdar and supported by cricket icon Sourav Ganguly, the museum showcases a rare and extensive personal collection of sports memorabilia gathered over decades—spanning cricket, football, hockey, tennis, and the Olympics.
FSM is a private initiative, unlike state-run museums, and is entirely based on Prof. Majumdar’s collection, making it India’s first personal sports museum. Located in Ecospace Business Park, the museum offers an immersive journey through some of the greatest moments in Indian and global sports.
- Match-used gear from cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli
- Signed football jerseys from Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Indian stars
- Olympic medals and memorabilia from Indian athletes across disciplines
- Interactive digital exhibits and themed sports zones
Speaking at the launch, Prof. Boria Majumdar said, “This museum is my dream turned into reality. It’s a tribute to the spirit of sport and a gift to every Indian who has ever cheered for their heroes.”
The Fanattic Sports Museum is open to the public with guided tours available. Group visits from schools and sports institutions are encouraged. For timings and ticket details, visit the FSM website.
As India continues to shine on the global sports stage, FSM stands tall as a symbol of passion, preservation, and pride—the nation’s first personal sports museum, born from one man’s love for the game.
