Jonny Davies, a 32-year-old stunt rider, believes he has set a new Guinness World Record after being dragged behind a motorbike at nearly 160mph (257km/h) in a thrilling display of speed and precision on Sunday.
Wearing specially designed boots fitted with titanium “skis”, Davies generated a spectacular shower of sparks as he hurtled down the runway at Elvington Airfield, tethered to a modified Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX.
If confirmed, the feat would mark Davies’ third world record, eclipsing the previous benchmark by 3mph.
“It was absolutely insane — the adrenaline, the speed, the sparks — it’s something I’ll never forget,” said Davies after the attempt.
Guinness World Records is currently reviewing footage and data to validate the record, which pushes the boundaries of both stunt performance and personal endurance.
