Somerset Man Attempts World Record with 280-Hour Static Bike Ride for Charity

Paul Magor, a determined fitness enthusiast from Somerset, is in the midst of an extraordinary world record attempt: cycling non-stop for 280 hours on a static bike.

Starting on New Year’s Eve at the Worle Centre Gym, Paul hopes to surpass the existing Guinness World Record of 277 hours, while raising £10,000 for Weston Hospicecare, a cause close to his heart.

“The first few days were really difficult and uncomfortable,” Paul admitted. “My legs seize up when I try to walk, so I have to be wheeled to the toilet.”

Despite the physical toll, Paul’s determination remains unwavering. With support from gym staff, friends, and well-wishers, the atmosphere at the gym has turned electric, fueling his bid for glory.

As Paul pedals his way toward the record books, his challenge serves as both a test of endurance and a powerful fundraiser for hospice care — proving that passion and perseverance can go a long way, even on a stationary bike.
