In a quirky yet determined attempt at glory, 31-year-old Jamie Campbell from Southend-on-Sea is gearing up to break a unique Guinness World Record — for the fastest marathon run dressed as a crustacean (male shrimp).
The Essex-based avid runner will don a full shrimp costume as he tackles the London Marathon on 27 April, aiming to not only complete the iconic 26.2-mile race but do so faster than the current record-holder for this shellfish-themed feat.
“When the fastest marathon as a crustacean popped up and it’s faster than my personal best, it just seemed like a really perfect opportunity,” said Campbell, who has combined his love for running with a splash of humour and ambition.
Jamie is currently deep in training, balancing endurance and costume-tested practice runs, ensuring both speed and shrimp authenticity.
If successful, Campbell will not only earn a place in the record books but may also claim the most unusual title of the event — “world’s fastest shrimp.”
