First-Ever Gujarati Garbo Performance by Visually Challenged Girls Inspired by PM Modi’s Song

To support the mission of Save Girl Child and Educate Girl Child, Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi penned the Gujarati Garbo — a traditional Gujarati folk song titled “Gaay Teno Garbo, Zile Teno Garbo” in the Gujarati language. This heartfelt composition was performed for the very first time by 10 visually challenged girl students of Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh.

The inspiring event took place on October 15, 2018, at Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh School, Memnagar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The performance not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Gujarat but also highlighted the empowerment of visually challenged girls through the arts.

The event was supported by Dr. Bindu Trivedi, Trusha Shah, and their dedicated team, and set a new record for the first-ever performance of this special folk song by visually challenged students, creating a memorable milestone in the fields of disability empowerment and cultural preservation.
