Down Syndrome Boy Swayam Vilas Patil Sets New World Record by Swimming 14 km in Arabian Sea

Swayam Vilas Patil, a 12-year-old boy from Nashik, Maharashtra, born with Down Syndrome and 50% disability, has achieved a remarkable feat by swimming 14 kilometers in the Arabian Sea. On March 6, 2020, Swayam swam from Elephanta Caves to the Gateway of India, completing the challenging distance in 4 hours and 19 minutes.

Guided by his coach, Hari Arjun Sonkamble, and supported by the Swimming Association of Maharashtra, Swayam’s incredible endurance and determination have set a new world record. His inspiring journey highlights the extraordinary potential of specially-abled athletes and serves as a beacon of hope and motivation for many.

The record was officially recognized by World Records India, celebrating Swayam’s achievement and dedication to the sport.
