Over 1.13 crore people have already registered for the Andhra Pradesh government’s ambitious month-long Yogandhra campaign, launched on May 21 to promote yoga across the state. With an eye on setting a new Guinness World Record, the initiative aims to create widespread participation and awareness about the benefits of yoga in daily life.
As part of the campaign, thousands of yoga enthusiasts — including Indian Navy personnel, members of self-help groups, yoga association representatives, and government officials — gathered on Sunday at Thotlakonda along Beach Road for a session from 6:30 am to 8 am. The event, according to district tourism officer J. Madhavi, drew around 1,000 participants.
The campaign is gaining momentum ahead of the International Day of Yoga on June 21, with expectations that more people will join and contribute to this record-breaking attempt.
Organizers expressed optimism that the overwhelming response would not only boost the state’s efforts to set a Guinness World Record but also foster a healthier and more active community.
