Rajkot Sets World Record with Largest Awareness Campaign for Solid Waste Management

In a landmark initiative promoting cleanliness and sustainability, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) successfully conducted the “Largest Awareness Campaign for Solid Waste Management”, setting a new world record for civic engagement and public participation.

Held on Monday, 10th December 2018, the campaign was aimed at educating and empowering citizens of Rajkot on effective waste segregation and management practices, aligning with the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

A total of 60,000 students from 400 schools across the city enthusiastically participated in the door-to-door campaign, delivering informative messages and materials to 60,000 households. This massive outreach effort was designed to bring about behavioral change, enhance community participation, and build awareness about sustainable solid waste disposal techniques.

The Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s initiative has been lauded as a benchmark for civic responsibility and environmental consciousness, demonstrating how local governance can mobilize educational institutions and youth to create impactful change.

This historic feat not only emphasizes Rajkot’s commitment to cleanliness but also places the city on the global map as a model for urban environmental action.
