“Innovative Wood Bank in Gazipur Provides Free Funeral Support, Aids Clean Ganga Mission”

In a pioneering effort to support the “Clean Ganga” project and raise awareness about the urgent need to stop floating dead bodies in the sacred Ganga River, Shri Sanjay Rai Sherpuriya, a renowned social leader and founder of the Youth Rural Entrepreneur Foundation & SDG Chaupal Team, has launched the world’s first-ever “Wood Bank” in Gazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

This innovative initiative provides free wood for funeral pyres to families who lost loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring dignified last rites without financial burden. The Wood Bank serves as a vital support system for poor and helpless families, preventing the environmentally harmful and disrespectful practice of floating bodies in the river.

The project directly contributes to the Clean Ganga mission, promoting ecological balance and public health while upholding cultural and religious dignity.

Recognizing this outstanding service to humanity, World Records of India proudly presented Shri Sanjay Rai Sherpuriya with a certificate of appreciation, applauding his dedicated, selfless, and impactful efforts in fighting the COVID-19 crisis and protecting the environment.

A spokesperson from World Records of India stated, “The Wood Bank initiative is a remarkable blend of social welfare and environmental conservation. Shri Sanjay Rai Sherpuriya’s leadership is an inspiring example of compassionate action during a challenging time.”
