In a rare and spiritually uplifting feat of endurance and devotion, Maha Tapasvi Pujya Shree Param Saumyaji Mahasatiji, a 49-year-old Jain Sadhviji and revered disciple of Rashtrasant Param Gurudev Shree Namramuni Maharaj Saheb, has completed the extraordinary Ayambil Tapasya—a Jain penance consisting of 1008 fasting days over 33 months, setting a New World Record.
Her spiritual journey of penance began on 23rd July 2021 and concluded with great reverence on 28th April 2024 at the Malini Kishor Sanghvi Shanti Prabha Hall, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, Maharashtra. The event was solemnly organized by the Shri Vile Parle Vardhman Shthanakvasi Jain Shravak Sangh.
Ayambil Tapasya is one of the most rigorous fasting practices in Jainism, wherein the devotee eats only once a day, consuming food prepared from boiled grains or pulses devoid of salt, sugar, milk, ghee, yogurt, oil, or any form of spice or fermented/fried ingredients. It symbolizes spiritual purity, detachment, and discipline, reflecting complete surrender to inner awakening and the path of non-violence.
Pujya Saumyaji’s penance exemplifies unwavering faith, willpower, and spiritual excellence, inspiring Jain communities and seekers of asceticism around the world. Her record is not just a numerical milestone but a beacon of the timeless power of Jain philosophy, self-control, and meditative living.
The accomplishment was received with deep reverence and widespread admiration, marking a historic moment in the realm of Jain religious devotion.
