“World Record: Most Climate Clocks Assembled and Displayed Across Multiple Venues in a Single Day”

Marking a historic milestone in climate action, the Energy Swaraj Foundation, founded by Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki — popularly known as the Solar Man or Solar Gandhi of India — set a new record for assembling and displaying the highest number of climate clocks at multiple venues in a single day.

A total of 559 climate clocks were assembled by enthusiastic participants aged between 10 and 50 years at a grand event held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. The initiative resonated nationwide, as participants from across the country joined virtually, assembling their own individual climate clocks in real-time, amplifying the collective message of urgent climate action.

The record-setting activity was organized to commemorate Earth Day 2023, celebrated globally on April 22, reinforcing the need to act decisively against climate change. The climate clock — a powerful visual reminder of the time left to prevent irreversible environmental damage — became a symbol of grassroots participation and awareness during the event.

Speaking about the achievement, Prof. Solanki emphasized, “Climate change is not a distant threat — it’s an immediate challenge. Through this record, we want every individual to understand their role in creating a sustainable future. Energy by locals, for locals, from locals — that is the spirit of Energy Swaraj.”

The event garnered widespread support from environmentalists, educational institutions, and civil society, turning Earth Day 2023 into a powerful call for climate accountability and collective action.
