In a story that sounds straight out of a fairy tale, Pooja Sharma, a 32-year-old woman from New Delhi, is making headlines for her incredible 7-foot-long hair, as she now sets her sights on securing a world record.
Pooja, who has been growing her hair since she was 12 years old, says her long locks are a result of dedication, patience, and a deep-rooted love for traditional beauty practices. Standing proudly with hair that sweeps the floor and trails behind her, Pooja has become a local celebrity and a source of inspiration for many.
“Taking care of my hair is a full-time commitment. It requires hours of gentle brushing, natural oils, and homemade treatments passed down through generations,” Pooja shared. She attributes her hair’s health to a strict routine that includes coconut oil massages, herbal rinses, and a diet rich in proteins and vitamins.
Pooja’s dream is to break the Guinness World Record for the longest hair on a living woman, a title currently held by Xie Qiuping of China, whose hair measured over 18 feet in 2004. While Pooja’s hair is still growing, she hopes to not only reach but eventually surpass that milestone.
Her journey has not been without challenges. Managing hair of such length comes with daily struggles — from avoiding tangles to careful planning of even simple tasks like commuting or cooking. Nevertheless, Pooja remains undeterred. She also uses her growing fame to advocate for natural hair care and inspire young women to embrace their unique beauty.
Pooja is now in the process of applying for official measurement and verification with Guinness World Records. If approved, she could soon represent India on the world stage for this rare and remarkable achievement.
“This is not just about setting a record. It’s about celebrating patience, tradition, and self-love,” she said.
As Pooja Sharma inches closer to her goal, the world watches eagerly to see if India will soon celebrate a new world record holder with the longest flowing hair.
