New Delhi, May 2003 & 2018 (Retrospective): Jet Airways marked two major milestones in Indian aviation by pioneering the introduction of advanced Boeing aircraft into its fleet.
In May 2003, Jet Airways became the first Indian airline to acquire the Boeing 737-900, the longest aircraft in the Boeing 737 family. With a seating capacity of 177 to 190 passengers and a maximum flight range of 5,084 km, the 737-900 was a significant boost to the airline’s domestic and short-haul international operations, offering greater efficiency and passenger comfort.
Building on this legacy, in 2018, Jet Airways once again led the way by taking delivery of the first of 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, becoming India’s first carrier to operate the next-generation variant. The 737 MAX promised enhanced fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and upgraded in-flight technology, reflecting Jet Airways’ commitment to modernization and sustainability.
These fleet expansions reinforced Jet Airways’ position as a trailblazer in Indian aviation and demonstrated its focus on innovation and passenger service enhancement.
