UberBoat was launched in Mumbai on 1 February 2019 as a speedboat taxi service operated through the Uber app. It connects three key locations:
Gateway of India (Mumbai)
Mandwa Jetty (Alibaug)
Elephanta Island (a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Elephanta Caves)
Uber offered two types of boats for booking:
- UberBoat – Seats 6-8 passengers
Designed for small groups or families.
Ideal for quick trips and private travel.
- UberBoat XL – Seats 10+ passengers
Suitable for larger groups.
Provides more space and comfort for longer rides.
Available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Booking through the Uber app, similar to hailing a car.
Aimed to reduce travel time between Mumbai and coastal destinations.
Provided a premium, on-demand water transport service.
Encouraged tourism by offering faster access to Elephanta Caves and Alibaug.
