In a remarkable display of coordination and scale, the Prayagraj Mela Authority and the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) set a Guinness World Record on February 28, 2019, for the largest parade of buses. A total of 503 buses traversed a 3.2-kilometer stretch on National Highway 19, between Sahson and Nawabganj toll plazas in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This impressive feat surpassed the previous record held by Abu Dhabi, which featured a parade of 390 buses in 2010.
The event was meticulously organized to demonstrate the efficient transport management during the Kumbh Mela 2019, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. Buses from various regions, including 70 from Saharanpur and Meerut, were mobilized to participate in this historic parade. Each bus maintained a speed of 15 km/h and a safe distance of 10 to 12 meters from each other, forming an unbroken line that extended over eight kilometers.
The successful execution of this event not only showcased the logistical prowess of the organizers but also highlighted the collaborative efforts of multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh. The Guinness World Record achievement stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to excellence in public transportation and event management.
