The world’s largest iced tea holds a Guinness World Record, proudly crafted in the sweet tea capital of Summerville. The record‑setting brew poured out an astonishing 9,554 litres (2,101 gallons / 2,524 US gallons) of refreshing sweet tea a monumental achievement for Southern beverage lovers.
The record was officially achieved on 10 June 2016 when the Town of Summerville organized a record‑breaking tea‑brewing event that drew crowds and celebration. To create the gigantic iced tea, organisers brewed the drink using 210 pounds of loose leaf tea and 1,700 pounds of sugar and added several hundred pounds of ice after initial attempts couldn’t cool the tea below the required 45 °F (7 °C).
The Summerville iced tea reclaimed its title after a series of competitive attempts, including previous records held by brands and other events. The official Guinness title remains a testament to the South’s famed sweet tea culture and the town’s dedication to its heritage.
From backyard pitchers to record‑breaking quantities, this cold‑brew classic now enjoys a place in the Guinness World Records books as the largest iced tea ever made.
