Once again proving why they’re among the loudest supporters in sports, the Seattle Seahawks’ fan base affectionately known as the 12s reclaimed the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd noise at a sporting event during a Monday Night Football game at CenturyLink Field in December 2013.
During the second quarter of the showdown against the New Orleans Saints, the stadium erupted to a peak of 137.6 decibels, narrowly edging out the Kansas City Chiefs fans’ 137.5 dB mark set just weeks earlier. The deafening roar was confirmed by Guinness World Records officials and proudly shared by the Seahawks on social media.
The record-setting noise came as Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin hauled in a big 52-yard catch, sparking the crowd into a frenzy that contributed to Seattle’s dominant 34 7 victory over the Saints.
This wasn’t the first time the 12s topped the charts — earlier in the 2013 season, Seahawks fans registered 136.6 dB in a win over the San Francisco 49ers before Kansas City briefly claimed the title in October. The overwhelming volume didn’t just break records — it also registered as minor seismic activity in the surrounding area, underscoring the raw power of Seattle’s passionate fanbase. For Seahawks supporters and football fans alike, the moment stands as a testament to the energy and enthusiasm that make CenturyLink Field one of the most intimidating venues in the NFL.
