Saudi Arabia Hosts 11.7 Million Umrah Pilgrims in Rabi Al Thani, Boosted by Vision 2030

Saudi Arabia has marked a historic spiritual milestone, announcing that over 11.7 million people performed Umrah during the single Hijri month of Rabi Al Thani. This figure represents one of the highest monthly totals on record, reflecting a massive surge in visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.

The official statistics revealed that more than 1.5 million of these worshippers traveled from abroad, underscoring the Kingdom’s growing success in welcoming the global Muslim population.

Saudi officials attribute this unprecedented influx directly to the success of ongoing reforms under Vision 2030, which aims to enhance the pilgrim experience and expand the capacity of the holy sites.

The surge in numbers is a direct result of key strategic improvements, including:

Smoother Travel & Logistics: Streamlined visa processes and integrated logistical services have made planning, traveling, and performing rituals significantly easier for both domestic and international pilgrims.

Enhanced Digital Systems: The implementation of advanced digital platforms has simplified bookings, permits, and overall journey management, ensuring a more accessible and efficient experience.

Vision 2030’s Pilgrim Push: The Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030 goal to host 30 million Umrah pilgrims annually is clearly gaining traction, with a concentrated focus on providing world-class facilities and a profoundly enriching spiritual journey.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in cooperation with the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, continues to implement initiatives focused on service quality, safety, and comfort, ensuring that all worshippers can focus entirely on their devotion.
