Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the PM MITRA Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, hailing it as a landmark initiative that will establish India’s largest integrated textile manufacturing hub and transform the country into a global textile superpower.
The new facility, situated in Bhainsola village, is the first and largest of the seven PM MITRA Parks planned nationwide, marking a monumental step in integrating India’s textile value chain under one roof.
- India’s Largest Hub: The Park is being developed over a sprawling area of 2,158 acres, making it the largest single-site integrated textile park in the country.
- The 5F Vision in Action: The project is a direct implementation of the government’s ‘5F’ vision: Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign. It will integrate the entire textile ecosystem—from spinning, weaving, and processing to designing and export—at a single location.
- Economic and Employment Boost: The Park is projected to attract investments of over ₹23,000 crore and is expected to generate approximately 3 lakh direct and indirect jobs, offering massive employment opportunities, particularly to the youth and women of the region.
- World-Class Green Infrastructure: The hub is designed with world-class facilities, including a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), a dedicated solar power plant, modern roads, and ‘plug-and-play’ factory units for investors.
- Cultural Linkage: The Prime Minister highlighted the park’s role in reviving the rich heritage of Maheshwari textiles, a tradition linked to the legacy of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, whose 300th birth anniversary is being celebrated this year.
In his address, PM Modi emphasized that by bringing the entire value chain together, the park will significantly reduce logistics costs, boost the global competitiveness of Indian textiles, and ensure better value for cotton and silk farmers.
The development of the Dhar PM MITRA Park is a cornerstone of the central government’s strategy to strengthen India’s position in the global textiles and apparel supply chain. Six more such parks are planned across states like Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Telangana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
