In a story that exemplifies resilience and unwavering dedication, Rupal Rana, daughter of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the Delhi Police, has created history by securing the coveted All India Rank (AIR) 26 in the 2023 UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE). Hailing from the Barod village in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, Rupal’s success is a beacon of hope for aspirants from humble backgrounds across the nation.
Rupal’s father, Jasvir Rana, serves as an ASI in the Delhi Police. Her journey to this stellar achievement was marked by personal loss, as her mother, Anju Rana, passed away just a couple of months before her UPSC interview. Despite the immense emotional setback, Rupal channeled her grief into determination, making her success a true tribute to her mother’s dream and her family’s unwavering support.
Rupal’s academic record has been consistently brilliant. She completed her schooling in Baghpat and pursued her higher secondary education at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani. She then graduated in Mathematics (Hons) as a department topper from Ramanujan College, University of Delhi.
The UPSC CSE was Rupal’s third attempt at the highly competitive exam. Her persistent efforts, combined with a strong academic foundation, ultimately paid off. She meticulously planned her preparation, focusing on consistent study hours and learning from her previous setbacks. Her choice of Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) as her optional subject proved fruitful.
