In a massive display of public service, a nationwide blood donation campaign was held on Wednesday to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. The initiative, named Raktdan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0, was organized by the Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP) with the goal of collecting a world-record 3 lakh units of blood in a single day.

The campaign extended far beyond India’s borders, with donation camps organized in 70 countries around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Nepal, Australia, and Dubai. ABTYP’s all-india general secretary, Amit Jain, stated that the organization was aiming to surpass its own world record set in 2022, when it collected over 2.5 lakh units of blood in a single day.

In New Delhi, Union Minister for Railways and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, led by example, donating blood at a camp held at Anuvrat Bhavan. He was joined by Union Ministers Anupriya Patel and Mansukh Mandaviya, who praised the campaign’s efforts to transform the Prime Minister’s birthday into a life-saving movement. The initiative has the full support of various ministries, including the Ministries of Education, Health, and Youth Affairs.

The campaign’s ultimate goal is to ensure that blood banks across the country never face a shortage, thereby preventing any loss of life due to a lack of available blood.
