India has officially unveiled its largest and most advanced cruise facility, the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT), positioning the city as a major global hub for sea travel.
Inaugurated recently at the Indira Dock, the sprawling, state-of-the-art facility is a flagship project under the government’s ‘Cruise Bharat Mission’ and represents a significant leap forward for the nation’s tourism and maritime infrastructure.
- PASSENGERS ANNUALLY: The MICT has been designed to handle up to 1 Million (10 Lakh) passengers annually. This massive capacity aims to meet the growing demand for both international and domestic cruise tourism.
- Size: Spanning over 415,000 square feet, the terminal is India’s largest dedicated cruise facility.
- Ship Capacity: The terminal can simultaneously accommodate up to 5 large cruise ships, each up to 300 meters long.
- Efficiency: It is equipped with 72 check-in and immigration counters to ensure a smooth, efficient, and hassle-free experience for travelers.
- Design: The four-level (G+3) complex features a modern architectural design, including a wavy ceiling that draws inspiration from the ocean, blending world-class luxury with Mumbai’s maritime heritage.
Built at a cost of approximately Rs 556 crore, the MICT is not only a gateway for tourists but also includes public areas for leisure, recreation, and shopping, making it a year-round destination for Mumbaikars and visitors alike.
