In a breathtaking blend of extreme sports and competitive gaming, Norwegian professional gamer Martin “MrSavage” Foss Andersen has achieved a new Guinness World Records title for the longest distance elimination in Fortnite using a telescope. The astounding feat, which was part of a project with Red Bull, saw him take an in-game shot from an incredible 1,161.31 metres (3,810 ft 1 in) away.
The record-breaking attempt took place on November 27, 2024, in the remote and frigid Lofoten Islands of Norway, a location chosen to test the limits of what’s possible in gaming. MrSavage’s setup was unlike any other: his keyboard and mouse were positioned on one snowy outcrop, while his 32-inch gaming monitor was placed over a kilometer away, across a body of water. To even see his screen from that distance, he relied on a powerful telescope.
The conditions were far from ideal. With temperatures dropping to -1°C and limited daylight, MrSavage faced a monumental challenge. After numerous failed attempts and hours of perseverance, he finally managed to line up a shot and secure the elimination, surpassing the previous record and cementing his place in gaming history.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning was on hand to verify the attempt, which was documented in a gripping short film titled “Fjordnite,” produced by Red Bull. The project was designed not only to set a record but also to push the boundaries of creativity and resilience in the world of esports.
By conquering the elements to perform a digital task, MrSavage has proven that for true competitors, there are no limits to the length they will go to achieve a win.
