In a breathtaking display of strength, balance, and teamwork, the Kokan Nagar Govinda Pathak from Jogeshwari East created a ten-tier human pyramid during a Dahi Kala event in Thane on Saturday, earning a coveted spot in the World Records Book of India.
The record marks the first-ever successful ten-tier acrobatic formation, a feat that even Spanish teams attempting similar formations had failed to achieve, collapsing before completion. The World Records Book of India confirmed that the Jogeshwari team’s accomplishment also qualifies as an international record.
The event was organized by Sanskruti Yuva Pratishthan, Vartak Nagar, Thane, under the leadership of Purvesh Pratap Sarnaik. Founded in 2013, the Kokan Nagar Govinda Pathak boasts around 250 members from across Mumbai, including Virar. In addition to their ten-tier success, the group also created a nine-tier pyramid at another venue in Naupada, Thane.
Meanwhile, the Jai Jawan Govinda Pathak, also from Jogeshwari East and the nine-tier record holders of the 2024 festival, finished as runners-up this year, repeating their remarkable nine-tier feat.
The achievement has been hailed as a milestone in the tradition of Govinda pathaks, combining cultural pride with global recognition.
